Simplification is the Key

"Rearing and flipping over backwards is the single most dangerous thing a horse can do!"

Why does a horse rear?
Rearing is a refusal to go forward or an evasion to your "go forward" aids or cues!""

How do you fix a rearing problem?
Simply put, "keep the horse's feet moving in any direction except backwards!"  It is impossible for a horse to rear while in a canter. In the video at the bottom of the page you will find a  a detailed explanation of the two most common methods to fix this unwanted behavior.

Over the years, countless people and horses have been seriously injured or even killed by this type of unwanted behavior. This behavior is not to be taken lightly. A horse can go 6 different directions: forward, back, left, right, down, and UP! The truth is that it can happen at anytime without any warning from the horse or action on your part. If you have a horse that is starting to rear, seek help from a professional before you or your horse get seriously injured or even killed. "It is better to put a welt on the horse's butt than have the horse put you in the grave!"

Showmanship vs Horsemanship

It is all about getting the most out of us and our horse. Wow! Show season is in full swing for many competitors that like to show off their training and their horse's abilities. There are many roads that lead to.....

your love and passion for horses.. We all should be striving to get the most out of life, this may include our communication with horses. Personally I strive for more knowledge and better horses. In doing so, in the last few months I have come get to know a breed that many people have an avoidance complex with. Once understood, Arabians can be one of the best and versatile horse in the world.

I still have passion for mixed breeds like Quarter horse including but not limited to paints/pintos. Reining has always been a passion for me, but now that I have qualified an Egyptian Arab, with the help of Ron Copple, for Region V next month for Western Pleasure open, a new door has opened up. I may not win the open class with this horse, but it is about the journey of knowledge and horsemanship.

Stop for a moment and think about this,,, is your horse a pleasure to ride? Or do you feel that your horse is a struggle to ride at times? If a trainer can show an Arab,Quarter horse, or any other horse in a pleasure class, would you not want that same feeling from any horse next to you or under your legs?

Life is good be all that you can. "Remember" a horse is a horse no matter what breed you prefer. Horsemanship is horsemanship no matter if you ride for competition or in you back yard. Come by my barn or see me at Regionals Randy

A little fun showing Western Pleasure Arabs.

As you can see by the picture below, I have been spending a lot of time this year with Arabian horses. Although I have been working mainly with Arabs, I still work with other breeds. The summer is winding down and as people getting their horses out and riding them more and more, that perfect horse may

develop unwanted habits or behaviors that are less desirable. With the high price of fuel and feed prices to care for horse, it is sometimes hard to put forth cash to get your horse where you may want him to be.

This is why in the month of August / September I will be offering an opportunity to get free help with your horse in a quiet low key atmosphere. During these months, I will be offering my knowledge and time to help those that ask for help without a buy-one-get-on or any catch". Anything goes, I will spend up to one hour at no charge to work with you or your horse. I will take first come first serve up to two people at a time. Call or email to presign-up. The venue will be held in a 80x175 covered arena at Serenity Farms in Yelm Wa. at 17002 Railway rd. from 8am to 8pm 1 day is really not enough time to get a horse trained for long term improvement, but this will give you advice and a direction to go.

I will also be offering a 3 month training package. If you pay for 2 months you will get the third month at no cost "excluding board"
